[M0] - Salky Smooth Landing

[Vys Quo'bari]

The Umbaran sat at the table in the galley of the Salky Hound. Their Appraiser's Eye adjusted in the dim lighting, bringing up the Market Prices of Port Knowhere. His hands were clasped behind his head, as the young man looked up st the ceiling. A steaming cup of caff sat on the table, while the Umbaran ignored it for a moment, letting the cream and sugar mellow and melt with the brewed liquid.

A little tune was whistled.

With a sliding hiss the sound of the Captain's quarters opening echoed a little through the hull. Boots against the hard metal surface approached at their leisurely place and Addy herself rounded the corner. Looking first to the pot of caff she saw to preparing herself a cup, pulling out the mug and other items step by step.

Pulling the pot off she glanced over toward Vys, but she stopped just before speaking. Instead turning her attention to the mug and pouring herself a cup.

"There's a spike in prices of spotchka here." The Umbaran responded dryly, the light in his eye dimming slightly as he looked down to his caff. "We should have picked up a crate before leaving Malastare. Offloaded it for a little extra cred." He shrugged, reaching for his mug. The white ceramic was emblazoned with the words "World's Okayest Gambler".

"Nothin' to do about it now," she finished the pour. Glancing to the milk and cream, considering them for a longer than standard amount of time. Pouring a fairly average bit of the cream, but under on the milk leaving her caff a bit dark. Staying with the thought on it a moment she glanced back to Vys.

"Did you have too good of a night last night in your bunk? Needed a little disappointment for the morning?" she asked before looking back to her caff. Some sugar and a bit more milk was added to lighten it considerably, but she added with what seemed the weight of a guilty conscience. Taking up a nearby errant spoon, one that had been used to stir on many previous days, she gave the mixture a little more life with reckless twirls.

"One. No such thing as too good of a night. Two. Disappointment is just the other side of thrilled. Gotta have the lows to appreciate the highs." He beamed as he picked up the cream with caff mixture, taking a long sip. Vys chuckled, those vibrant eyes sparkling as he looked to Addy.

"I'll keep track of prices on trade goods while we are here. Maybe we can pick up something cheap that our next spot needs. Keep the ol' coffer full, yeah?"

"Sure," she said, pulling the spoon from her drink and holding it in front of herself. Giving the spoon a look over as a bit of caff dripped down. Plopping it into her mouth she cleaned off the fresh caff from the spoon and then quickly tossed it into the nearby basin to the clattering of metal on metal.

"Disappointment comes when it comes. Checking to see woulda coulda's seems like spilling my own caff in the morning just to feel the burn," she smirked. Picking up her mug she walked around a little inset couch and squeezed into the seat, setting down her caff.

[Chomaron Paladash]

The ship's intercom crackled to life. Strange music drifted lazily into the galley. It sounded vaguely as though someone was fighting a Gamorrean, and they were both armed with guitars, but under water? Abruptly the sounds ended. A familiar bass rumble replaced them.

"Heads up. There's a kriffin' queue. We turned up Nowhere and found traffic." The unmistakable clicking sound of an irritated Karkarodon grinding its teeth together transferred flawlessly from the comm unit. "So... take your time, have a kaff party I guess."

There was an implied shrug and then the comm went silent. With luck the delay would be temporary. Chomaron did not suffer boredom gladly.

"Sure," she said, pulling the spoon from her drink and holding it in front of herself. Giving the spoon a look over as a bit of caff dripped down. Plopping it into her mouth she cleaned off the fresh caff from the spoon and then quickly tossed it into the nearby basin to the clattering of metal on metal.

"Disappointment comes when it comes. Checking to see woulda coulda's seems like spilling my own caff in the morning just to feel the burn," she smirked. Picking up her mug she walked around a little inset couch and squeezed into the seat, setting down her caff.

"Maybe. But it's fun for me. Seeing what markets are there. Habits from family." Vys chuckled, before taking a long sip. The Umbaran relaxed back in his seat, a contented smile crawling across his lips. "Who knows. Maybe we'll see something really special."

The Gamorrean metal was always jarring, but by now Vys had gotten used to it. "Can't expect much else with morning arrivals." He raised his mug to the intercom, "Thanks Cho. Means customs gonna be a real pain the jobans."

Raising her mug toward the cockpit Addy gave her show of silent solidarity in spirit if not words. Taking a drink before she set the mug down. Tapping away with one hand she brought up an interface from the holoprojector at the center of the table revealing the ships status logs. Reviewing through them as she took back up the mug, holding it in front of herself with both hands as she sipped and read.

"Just don't spend too much time looking at what we could have brought, hmm? Best keep eyes for what we can still change. No sense in worrying about what opportunity we lost."

Again the intercom came to life. This time there was a barely audible wave of noise flickering on the edges of perception. The music of Chomaron's people. Little ripples began to form in the caff mugs.

"Five minute warning. No need to shoot anyone." A pause. "Yet."

The comm ceased its crackle, abruptly ending the infrasounds.
