[Day 3- LA] Putting It All Together (Expecting)

He scans the hanger for Isond, holding a toolbox in one hand.

Isond was sitting crosslegged on a workbench off to the side and out of the way of the ships. One hand held a small silver device that seemed to be missing much of its casing, the other was missing most of its layer of synthskin, allowing the minute tools within access to the device. Their tuneless humming cut short for a second as something sparked within the device, starting up again as simple tweezers were brought to bear. A dark, resinous lump was withdrawn a moment later, and dropped into a small metal bowl.

Virillo heads on over, humming happily to himself, although he doesn’t call out to Isond, not wishing to interrupt... well, he wasn’t sure. Maybe it was drug smuggling? Lots of money in drug smuggling.

“And you’re Isond...Vaal I think it was?”
He sticks out a hand, while peering over the workbench.

"Oh." They begin to reach to shake with a literal handful of tools on reflex. With a shake of the head, the silver whatsit is set carefully down to offer an awkward left-handed greeting instead.

"You have a ship in here to work on?" she asks, nodding toward the toolbox.

"Yep. Just Isond is fine. So's 'hey you!'. That's pretty common in this kind of space."

"Oh." They begin to reach to shake with a literal handful of tools on reflex. With a shake of the head, the silver whatsit is set carefully down to offer an awkward left-handed greeting instead.

"You have a ship in here to work on?" she asks, nodding toward the toolbox.

“Better, a gift! I bet you’ve always wanted a maintenance kit customised for stun batons, right?”

“I saw it in the window of a shop and thought it would go perfectly with your... hands.”

Sitting back with low chuckle, Isond takes a moment to carefully secure the stinker's casing loosely before setting it aside. "Ah, you almost certainly shouldn't have. Unless that's a stun baton in your pocket?"

Virillo produces a much love stun baton and sets it down on the bench.
“We go way back, I’d say you’d be surprised how many people you have to tase as a comic but... you probably wouldn’t be.”

"I don't think I had any idea of how often comics needed to tase people, honestly." He reaches for the baton to examine it. "Is the number at all related to how *good* of a comic you are?"

"Needs repair? It's a bit hard to tell with a stick that's not bent in half or something. And testing the tasing is a bad idea if that's the broken part...sometimes."

Nodding. "Makes sense. Would need a few parts, and a little tricky with the battery. Not a ton of extra space inside these." She balances it across one thigh before rummaging in the toolkit. "Ought to be a case zipper...yep..." The slender little tool gets run along one reinforced seam, parting it like a scalpel on flesh. "These are tough to get open otherwise. Kit's a great idea."

"Pfft, I'm nobody's hero. But yeah, it's a reasonable job, and bit of a challenge. Haven't done a lot of work on high tech sticks." Turning it over carefully now that the seam was loose, she asks, "Where'd you get this one? It's obviously been around a while."

“Bought it way back when I was passing through Nar Shadda. Dealer swore up and down it was illegally modified to the point where it could bring down a grox with one swing... never actually tested that.”

"Hmm. Better than being left for dead, I suppose," they say dryly, beginning to sort through the tools in the kit. "Easier to hang on to than a blaster in places that don't want weapons brought in, I imagine."

"Does it have a name?"

“Nah, never wanted to be one of those guys who makes their weapon and stays up all night lovingly stroking ‘Titania’ or what not. A stick is a good stick without a name.”

"Sort of? A lot of my slicing gear have signatures of a sort to call on. Just made the pistol not so long ago." A wry grin punctuates the next comment. "If I have to use a weapon, I'd rather do it well before stick range."

"Anyway, it doesn't have a name yet, but I kind of feel like it should. Fair bit went into it, and I have plans for more work since it's good practice."

"Yeah, it's a bit more deadly, but I'm not a very good shot. Sooo, probably won't be leaving anyone for dead anytime soon." They begin pulling out more tools to lay out in easy reach, thinking ahead to the pieces that needed to be attached, connections made, order of operations, and so forth.

"I don't have much of a list yet. It's nowhere near aware, so people names seem odd. It's just not an Ephram, you know?" The stick is braced on one knee as she works. "Descriptive nouns are a bit overblown, like Terminator or Defender, or silly, like Lady Pews-a-lot."

"So yeah, no good ones yet. I'll have to ask HK how Betsy got her name."

"Any suggestions?"
