"Yeah, it's a bit more deadly, but I'm not a very good shot. Sooo, probably won't be leaving anyone for dead anytime soon." They begin pulling out more tools to lay out in easy reach, thinking ahead to the pieces that needed to be attached, connections made, order of operations, and so forth.

"I don't have much of a list yet. It's nowhere near aware, so people names seem odd. It's just not an Ephram, you know?" The stick is braced on one knee as she works. "Descriptive nouns are a bit overblown, like Terminator or Defender, or silly, like Lady Pews-a-lot."

"So yeah, no good ones yet. I'll have to ask HK how Betsy got her name."

"Any suggestions?"

"Vulcan, maybe? Has a nice ring to it. A little makey a little destroy...y, lotta options if you're not gonna call it 'BLAZER'."
Virillo watches the whole process with interest as the stick is taken apart and then put back together.

"Oh, yeah...not Blazer. I guess I could add more lightshow and go with Dazzler. A little holodrama-ish though."

The small tools at the ends of her fingers are exceptionally useful working in the limited space within the stun rod's casing. Occasionally a tool folds back, allowing a different one to extend as they work. How to make a stick more accurate? Alter the sensors involved with real time grip adjustments to max range and loop them into tactile feedback, a bit like some of the tools that aid blind folks in the galaxy, but tricky. These dynamic grips were pretty amazing to work with.

"You've already been working with the grip mod, so you know it's going to feel a bit odd the first few times. Like new glasses, better, but still different."

Specialized bits from the toolkit slot into place, holding the battery safely, and routing any discharge well away from the mechanic as they work. "Might honestly need to actually use the little pistol a bit before a name feels right, you know? I wonder if parents ever want to wait a few more days before gluing a final name on their kids."

Trying to gently file just enough of a groove to wrap some wire on for that extra bit of charge from the battery was always tricky. The priciest ones were manufactured with very well known tolerances, and you weren't likely to find thin spots. This one though... Isond grumbled as the flex of metal beneath her tools flexed dangerously after barely scratching the surface. Same thing at the next spot and she hoped to use instead. A shake of their head as they sit up offer an unpleasant verdict. "The battery needs some factory work before fussing with it more, sorry. I don't have the kind of fabrication unit that might help there."

"Ach, you win some you lose some I guess. Improved handle will do me just nicely. Although here's hoping we don't have to use it and the little pistol on Hapes."
Peering down at his stick
"It still works, right? I don't need to put my mourning clothes on or anything?"

((Doesn't incorporate it AFAIK, but clearly that just means Isond needs to be the first to start a new pantheon.))

"Yeah, it should work as well as ever." They're careful about resealing the baton and putting tools from the kit back into place. "But no extra kick. So even better if we don't need to use them on Hapes."

She passes the baton back, balanced across the still exposed metal of her palm.

(ooc, since there were no despair, pretty sure it's fine other than the mod not taking and not being redo-able)

((No worries, thanks for the rolls!))
"Worst comes to worst I can just hit'em with the handle, desperate times and all that."
He stretches before looping the baton back into its holster.
"I should probably stop annoying you so you can get back to....making grenades or whatever it is. But let me buy you a drink as thank when we get to Hapes if you promise to see the sunlight every once in a while."

Reaching for the little smell synthesizer, Isond pauses. "Think we'll need grenades? Could find the parts here easier than once we're there..." The reach switches targets to a datapad, sliding it closer and tapping a few notes on it.

"Definitely planning to see some sunlight. Actual stuff, not the artificial almost-sun some of the fancy suites do their holowindows up with." She grins. "So a drink goes along with it, fine."

"Perfect"
Fing-ga-funs
"As for the grenades, always better to have them and not need them then need them and not have them. What if you're attacked by someone and your only defence is military grade explosives?"
